This trail is at the end of a long upaved road, though it was in
good shape.
We got started at 10, and the group ended up splitting into two
groups, one faster group and one group a bit slower. With the limited
daylight, we hoped to reach the suspension bridge. The trail continues
beyond that, but that's as far as we planned to go.
Along the way we crossed quite a few side streams. Some were easy to step
across while others required a bit of rock hopping. Waterproof shoes
were a necessity.
The hike out to bridge took longer than expected. It didn't help that
the bridge wasn't marked on our map, so it wasn't obvious how much further
we had to go. We went until we came to some designated camp areas and
stopped for lunch. Kathy went on a bit further and found the bridge
just a minute further up the trail. After a quick lunch the rest of us
went to the bridge for some pictures. Just as we were about to leave,
the remainder of our group showed up at the bridge, so we stayed longer
with a few of the group going further to try to find a viewpoint. They
didn't find a viewpoint, but they did find another bridge across
the Suiattle further up the valley.
The return hike was a bit slower than going out. We did get back to the
trailhead before dark, but not long before. We had to drive out the
unpaved road in the dark.
Pictures:
Sun through the trees.
One of the little cascades we had to cross.
Large rock formation along trail.
Strange mushroom.
Our goal! The suspension bridge.
