A short ways up the trail there is a junction in the trail with the right branch leading up to Sugarloaf and the left branch going north and around Sugarloaf.  We took the left branch saving Sugarloaf for later. 

About 45 minutes later we came to the upper junction which was the upper end of the initial branch we hadn't taken.  We continued on the trail up to the top of Mt. Erie.  There we did pictures and had lunch. 

On the way down, we opted to go down the road for the first part, picking up the trail a bit down the hill.  This let us check out a couple more viewing areas.  We rejoined the trail back to the upper junction, taking the branch to Sugarloaf.  This branch has a short section along the road before becoming trail again. 

We climbed a bit before taking a side trail to the (rounded) top of Sugarloaf, someplace I'd never been before.  We did a loop at the top and descended back down to the main trail which we continued down to the initial branch and then back to the trailhead.
