This hike was on the Centennial Trail (paved bike trail) and
White Horse Trail (unpaved mountain bike trail), and as such
was flat and smooth.
We started at Legion Park in Arlington and went north on the
Centennial Trail. In one mile, the White Horse Trail departs to
the east.
It was a wet period here, with a number of atmospheric rivers hitting
the area with rivers flooding in places. This hike was during a nice
gap in the rain. It was dry (we even got some sun breaks and some
blue sky) and got up to 55 degrees on the hike.
The White Horse Trail follows the North Fork Stillaguamish River (and
highway 530) from Arlington to Darrington, though we certainly weren't
planning on going that far (27 miles one way).
Along the way we found good views of the swollen and fast moving river
with mossy trees.
At 3-3/4 miles a bridge crosses the river. This bridge had a wooden
pathway which was rather slick in places. Most of our group stopped here
before returning while three of us continued on to the Trafton "trailhead".
There is access to the trail here, but it was smaller and more primative
than we expected.
We had a quick snack before heading back the way we came.
This was a great day to get out and experience nature in December.

A little cascade by the trail.
There were lots of mossy trees.
Some sun and blue sky lighting up the green field.
