The whole area is crisscrossed with trails.  We took the quick way to the lake from the parking area which followed a dirt road (trail 20).  At Whistle Lake, we started around the lake going clockwise on trail 205. 

There are a couple short side trails off of the trails around the lake that lead to viewpoints overlooking the lake. 

At the far side of the lake, we took a right onto trail 22 to continue circumnavigating the lake.  Another right put us on trail 21 to trail 204 which lead us back to where we first got to the lake. 

Our group had gotten spread out.  The lead folk continued back around the lake (the way we had started) a short way to an open area well suited for lunch.  We could see them across the lake as we neared the starting point. 

We continued around the north end of the lake and met up with the rest of our group for lunch. 

After lunch we returned to the parking lot with some folk returning down the dirt road we had come up, and some of us taking trail 21 to trail 201 back to the parking lot.
