It was a rainy day with a steady rain coming down as we started
up the trail. I expected with the weather and it being mid-week in
April we'd be the only crazies out on the trail. Hence I was
surprised how many other groups we met along the way.
We took the Woody Trail along the river over the longer Railroad
Grade trail as it is shorter and prettier.
At the Lower Falls there is a covered shelter giving us a brief
respite from the rain.
Some of our group didn't go futher while a few of us continued
to the top.
At the Upper Falls we had a brief snack and then started down.
About this time the rain started to taper off, though with the
drippy trees it didn't make too much difference to us.
We returned to the Lower Falls and the covered shelter for a
quick lunch. We had been warm hiking, but as we stopped to eat, it
got chilly so we didn't tarry.
By the time we got to the trailhead the rain had moved on. It was
still cloudy but the sun was trying to break out. It seems we
picked the wettest time of the week for our hike this time.
